




He looked up at her, his eyes brightening.
“You look… beautiful.”
For a second, she didn’t move, but she took a deep breath and gave him a small smile.
“Thank you,” she said softly. “And I’m ready.”



But not before he kissed her hair and whispered,
“You could never inconvenience me, Li.”



“Do you fully remember losing her?”
She stiffened, her mind trying to dredge up the memories, but there was only a feeling of intense loss that lingered.
“I don’t quite remember it,” she said quietly. “I remember her being alive, but the actual memories feel like trying to hold water.”
She touched her chest, just over her heart—the spot where the ache pulsed the loudest. “But here… I still feel it.”

“Do you remember everything people say?”
The air in the room shifted slightly as he pushed off the board, closing the distance between them.
“I remember things certain people say.” His voice was quieter now.
He looked up at her, his eyes brightening.

Liora froze, her eyes going wide as Kelsey burst out laughing. “Oh, I like him.”
