Asphodel Meadows is to the left. It is the section of the Underworld where ordinary souls who lived neutral lives—neither overly virtuous nor wicked—go after death. It is also where Al likes to send people for trials.

 

To the right is Tartarus. It is the land of lava and flame, used as a supreme prison for defeated gods, titans, and a place of torment for the wicked

The Abyss is the divide. It pulls downs souls that wander near its edge who have done deeds worthy of far worse suffering than Tartarus can provide. The bottom of the Abyss is an endless dream realm of nightmares.

This area makes a reappearance in book 2.
